Course overview:
This training course provides delegates with a thorough understanding of the theory and the basic theory behind communications cabling. The basic principles and how they are applied in a modern communications cabling system are examined and provides a valuable insight into communications cabling.
The course looks at the different types of copper cabling media including Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat6a and other high bandwidth copper cabling systems. In addition, the course also takes a look at optical fibres otherwise known as fibre optic cabling, to include a summary of single mode (sm) and multimode (mm) as well as common communications cabling definitions and current communications cabling standards.

The Basic Principles of Communications Cabling City and Guilds 3667-02: 101course is aimed at anyone who is thinking of entering into the communications cabling installation industry. It also forms part of the newly designated training government led initiatives to increase the skills and underpinning knowledge of candidates who feel they have gaps in their basic knowledge of applying communications technology.

Assessment:
All candidates are assessed via 25 multiple choice questions – this is a "closed book” examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system. All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.

This course leads to a fully accredited level 2 qualification in
City and Guilds 3667-02: 101 Basic Principles of Communications Cabling.
Delegates are given a comprehensive course manual to work through during the course.
