A new qualification is born…..
The industry benchmark qualification for the communications cabling installation industry is changing. Back in 2004, the City and Guilds 3666 qualification was introduced and replaced the much older City and Guilds 3466 award. Well, a lot has changed in 6 years, not least that we now have Ethernet running at 40 Gbps. So to embrace and encompass those changes in technology and to keep pace with the ever changing demands of the industry, City & Guilds 3666 is itself being replaced by a much more robust and over arching award, known as the City & Guilds 3667. This 3667 award offers delegates a complete package with the programme covering everything from Cat6a right the way through to designing and planning a underground teleco system.
Endorsement and recognition for the new award has been particularly forthcoming from the FIA (Fibre-optics Industry Association) and ECA ITEC. Total Communications Training, with it’s colleagues at the FIA have contributed to the development of the City and Guilds 3667 award and programme.
The change to the award itself is a major milestone for the industry, as now for the first time, there is a training pathway that really does map across and with the inception of the QCF, the new Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF), City and Guilds 3667 has an acknowledged level and a credit value.
The QCF also gives true international recognition to City and Guilds 3667 award, wherever UK and European standards for communications cable installations are used, and amongst other countries, where “City & Guilds” is seen as the de facto awarding body.
