Course explanation:
This 2-day course is designed for technicians and fibre optic engineers who are already involved in installing fibre optic cabling systems. The course aims to provide in depth "hands on" practice sessions, and to facilitate simulations on large fibre systems. The course also will look at system design parameters and advanced testing requirements, for both multimode and singlemode fibre optic cabling systems. The course itself is delivered through a series of training sessions which will include practical assignments.
Who will benefit from this course?
The course is designed primarily for those installers ands technicians who have a good understanding of fibre installations and are seeking to advance their OTDR testing skills. .
Course content:
• 10Mb, 100Mb, Gigabit & 10Gb systems
• Overview of Fibre Optic systems, campus networks & fibre designs
• Health & Safety procedures
• Distance/loss measurements (fibre, bending, splicing & connectors)
• OTDR limitations & how to resolve various issues
• Measuring cable in different situations
• Poor conditions, bare fibres, ghosts, saturations, mis-matches & linearity
• Operating the OTDR
• Automatic configurations & macro facilities
• Set-up & software routines
